I always connect Holocaust Memorial Day with Yom HaZikaron, Memorial Day. As a combat soldier in the IDF, including 12 years reserves, I associated the privilege and purpose of service in the IDF with the history of the Shoah.
The IDF is more than an army protecting a state. It is an army to ensure the survival of the Jewish people.
I took modern day IDF pics and images of the German military and camps from WWII and this is what came from them.
